Langebaan Public Library

Langebaan Library is a resource centre that encourage reading and promote literacy among  residents and community. Visitors also welcome to pop-in.  Here you can borrow books, have access  to computers, newspapers and variety of other sources, like audio books, music CD's, videos and CD- ROMs . Even have regular educational programs.

To borrow books or request books from other libraries through inter-library service, you need  to be a member, with a library card.

How to become a member:

  • Application is free

  • Application forms are available  at the library.

  • Adults need to bring an ID- document and proof of residence.

  • Children need their birth certificate, a parents's ID document and proof of residence.

E- Books:

Registered library members with valid cards may access and download library E-Books and audio books via the Overdrive website at  OR the Libby App on a smart device/tablet.

How to access Libby (library online- reading app.) on Desktop Computer:

  •  Google

  • Click on

  • Dropdown arrow, select Western Cape Provincial Library:

  • Insert library card number

  • Pin must be your date of birth (

  • Once you are in, choose any book to read


How to access Libby on your smartphone:

  • Go to Google Play Store

  • Download Libby by overdrive app

  • Once on phone, open it and register by :  

  • Choose  Western Cape Library Services

  • Type name of library where your membership is registered

  • Type in library card number

  •  Fill in password, which is your date of birth

  • Once in, select any book to read
